Who We Are
A community-governed fire district
The Beaver Dam / Littlefield Fire District serves residents and travelers on the Arizona Strip between St. George, Utah and Mesquite, Nevada. As an Arizona special district governed by a publicly elected board, we answer to the community we protect.
Insurance Services Office (ISO)
What our ISO rating means for you
The Insurance Services Office (ISO) evaluates fire-suppression capabilities in communities across the United States and assigns a Public Protection Classification (PPC) grade. This grade reflects the readiness of our department, water supply, and communications, and can directly affect property insurance rates for district residents.
The District continually works to strengthen staffing, apparatus, and training to serve the community effectively and responsibly.
Our Community
Roots in the Arizona Strip
The District serves Beaver Dam, Littlefield, Desert Springs, and Scenic in the far northwestern corner of Mohave County — part of the remote “Arizona Strip” and the only Arizona communities along Interstate 15. Cut off from the rest of the state by the Grand Canyon and by the Nevada and Utah state lines, residents here have always depended on their neighbors, which is exactly why locally governed fire and emergency service matters so much in this valley.
These are old communities with deep roots along the Virgin River. Beaver Dam was first settled by pioneers on December 2, 1863, and neighboring Littlefield was settled in 1865. Today the Beaver Dam / Littlefield Fire District carries that tradition of self-reliance forward, protecting the community from three stations — Headquarters in Beaver Dam (Station #1), Desert Springs (Station #2), and Scenic (Station #3) — with fire, rescue, emergency medical, and wildland fire response.
